The Girona Counties G! Tourism Communication Awards are granted annually by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board to acknowledge and reward the work carried out by journalists around the world do to publicise, promote and recommend the destination for the benefit of travellers and the tourism industry.


This competition is open to all individuals and companies that submit original work published or broadcast on any communication media (print media, radio, television, the internet, works of literature, film productions, etc.) that promotes and publicises the wealth, diversity and quality of the Girona counties’ tourism resources and products and showcases the “Costa Brava” and/or “Girona Pyrenees” brands.

There are four award categories:

  • Audiovisual Media (radio, television, cinema)
  • Print Media (printed newspapers, magazines, books and guides)
  • Digital Media Written Works (digital newspapers, digital magazines, blogs and ebooks)
  • Digital Media Audiovisual Works (videos and podcasts)

Special conditions

Entries must be original works published or broadcast between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020, in any language and in any part of the world.

Deadline for submitting entries and documentation

Entries must be submitted by 2nd September 2020 by completing the entry form provided by the organisation.

Participation implies full acceptance of these rules and the jury’s final decision. Candidates likewise authorise the Tourist Board to share short-listed and prize-winning works on its communication channels.

The duly-completed entry form must be submitted with the original works or a copy in the case of radio and television. Candidates that prefer to submit their entries to the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board may do so at the following address: Av. de Sant Francesc, 29, 3a planta, 17001 Girona (Catalonia)

Prize money

Prize-winners in the Audiovisual and Print Media categories will receive a prize of €5,000 each, while the prize for Digital Media (Written and Audiovisual) is €3,000 each.

The jury reserves the right not to select a winner if it believes none of the entries sufficiently merits the award. As an obligatory requirement previous to receiving the prize money, the winners in each category must provide a scan of their National Identity Card/Foreigner’s Identity Number/passport, a bank account holder certificate and the Girona Provincial Council registered payee document.

Evaluation criteria

The jury will judge the entries according to writing/production style, photographic and audiovisual images, originality, creativity, informative value and accuracy.

Composition of the jury

The jury will be headed by a representative of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and members will be designated by the Advisory Committee from among prestigious figures in the various media spheres.

Final decision

The jury will meet and issue its verdict for the Girona Counties G! Tourism Communication Awards. The jury’s verdict is final and will be announced during the award ceremony organised annually by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board. In accordance with the characteristics of the work and in line with the philosophy behind the award, the Board may promote any initiatives necessary to share the winning work with society as a whole.

The winners of the G! Tourism Communication Awards, the winners of the Honorary G! Tourism Awards 2020 and the winner of the Yvette Barbaza Research Award will all be awarded their prizes at a public ceremony.
